Excellent book - goes into so much detail about what it was like cooking and gardening in WW2.I especially enjoyed the part where they go into how difficult it was to obtain certain items.

I bought this book for its historical information. It is an easy read and popular in my home; I bought it for myself and at least two other family members are enjoying the book also.

Gave as a gift to my sister and she loved it. A warm book filled with history, recipes, gardening, and a reminder that we can rise above difficult times with cleverness and grace.

This book is a great history on how the people lived through the WWII in England. Its has a lot of great recipes and know how's of that time. My son enjoyed very much. He liked all the pictures.

This book deals primarily with food rationing in Britain during WWII. It combines information about the various government programs dealing with food and food production with personal reminiscences. As an introductory book on this subject I enjoyed it immensely. I just wish the companion BBC program were available on DVD!

I'm a big fan of the 8 part BBC show "The wartime kitchen and garden". Ruth Mott is *everyone's* grandmother and a lovely woman. The book further expanded on the TV series and was a wonderful compliment.
