A very inspiring book about a woman missionary doctor to Africa and her journey. I would have given it a 5 star but found it a little hard at times to follow. Could have been just me. But a very good book and a woman's honest account of her self and how she grew in her faith in following Jesus.

Dr. Helen Roseveare faced unspeakable horror while serving in the Congo but she goes back to rebuild what was destroyed in the Simba revolt. Only a woman of great faith in the Lord could live such a life and sacrifice so much for others.

I recently gave away my old copy of this book to my granddaughter. But I need to own one. It's a book that gave me courage to face the difficult times in life and I still quote it to myself and friends. Dr. Roseveare changed the way I look at life as a Christian. Her honesty is almost shocking. I watch some of her talks on YouTube. She must be about 90 now. I first read this book many years an extra to give away

It's a very inspiring story. I love seeing how God used Helen Roseveare. Reading her story makes me want to know God more and seek Him more passionately. I want to know Him in the way that she knew him.

Roseveare is unusually candid about her weaknesses and mistakes as a missionary. But what comes through in every one of her books is her faith in God and His ability to use her in spite of them. This book recounts her early tumultuous years in the Belgian Congo (now Zaire). Even though she suffered unbelievable hardships, God put a deep love in her heart for Him and for the Africans with whom she was working. A great story about victorious faith.
