I was going to give the BOOK one or two stars due to the poor quality of the writing style, but that might have dissuaded someone from buying and reading the STORY. The story is about a courageous man who became a policeman. He was a tough cop, but with ambitions to lead. So the story is about a good man who seems to genuinely care for people, and promote positive change in the communities in which he serves.I found the writing style to be clumsy and awkward, and the author embarked on numerous bunny trails unconnected with the storyline. This was surprising for an author who has had numerous books published. The book also devolved into anti-gun rhetoric. While the stated positions on gun control may be what Mike Chitwood believes, I believe the author dwelt too long on this and seemed to pushing his own agenda. It's hard to believe that a man who spent 50 years in law enforcement believes that so-called "assault weapons" are a major problem in today's violent society. They are not.Two comments regarding previous reviews of this book:1 - If this is an author who "doesn't pull any punches", that's not the case here. The author obviously is a fan of Mike Chitwood Sr., and I can certainly understand why he is.2 - One apparent miscreant who gave a one star rating for the book obviously didn't read the book, because he attacked Mike Chitwood, Jr., who is the current, and very well-respected, police chief of Daytona Beach, FL. While Mike Jr. is mentioned, and pictured, in this book, the book is about his father.Bottom line: Buy the book and enjoy the story about a courageous man. Don't buy the book to learn how to write.

Husband loved this book. Since we live close to UpperDarby, we read about Chitwood very often. He does a great job inthe area and is well respected. Appreciate his honesty, alwayssays what he thinks, a somewhat colorful person, but extremely well liked.

Great book, I am a retired Philadelphia policeman from that era, and it brings back memories that slip away with time

I was in Philadelphia when Mike Chitwood was there. I was a Special Agent with DEA. I knew he was tough on "scumbags" but I did not know the tender side, even back than, the media didn't tell a lot of the good stories. My dad was a Philadelphia cop. He was tender at home, I never knew he was tough until he died and his partners told me the tough stories.

I think it's about time that I start writing my book about Chitwood, called "The Biggest Scumbag Of Them All"! Telling the truth about the man & all his corrupt ways. This book sickens me & every person who grew up in U.D. & watched the neighborhood go to hell under his watch. He's as corrupt as they come. If this man thinks about running for office, he is getting exposed big time!

Chitwood is the type of intimidating scumbag that is not welcome in the Daytona police force. He violates civil rights of everyone he encounters. He is a bully who needs to return to his scumbag, carpetbagger neighborhood. There is no doubt that he is surrounded by dirty money.
