In a land unforgiving of indulgent, dangerous sex, merchantman Eryn does his best to keep his desires in the dark...until the plight of a beautiful prince leads him out of the shadows and into adventures both sensual and terrible. Capture, curse, and torture litter Eryn's road to true love, along with carnal delights beyond his most wicked imaginings. His strengths and limitations are exposed-and the hard truth, that nothing holds him back more than the monster of self-loathing in his heart. Prince Wyn might be everything he's dreamed of in a man-and master-but before Eryn can accept the exquisitely wicked affections of his one true love, he must first save himself...from himself.

I've read a few of HC's other books and really enjoyed them. This was in my TBR pile and I just opened it without remembering what it was about. Much to my surprise and delight, this novel is very different than I was expecting. It has action, adventure, fantasy and romance to go along with kinky, nasty, hot sex scenes. Though there is humiliation and degradation, it actually is consensual. If you like your erotica to be a bit edgier, give this book a try.

I'm not into mythical magic, didn't quite seem up to her standard. Most of her books, I love.

Normally I quite like quests and fairytales, but this book just didn’t do it for me.DNF

You know as a child how you'd sit in wide eyed wonder and pure joy as you travel through that portal into a magical world that can only come with fairy tales, where good and evil battle, but in the end they all live happily ever after. Well, Heidi Cullinan created an adult fairy tale that evoked all of the above emotions, whilst indulging my wickedly sinful reading pleasure, ticking all my kink buttons.Eryn is a merchants son, a lost soul, never feeling like he quite fits in, but he goes with the flow, with what’s expected of him. The dutiful son, loving brother, loyal friend and courting a young lady who was welcomed into the family with open arms. Life was perfect. Yet for Eryn there was something missing, a void within him he was at a loss to explain, only to discover by chance that what he craved could only be found in the back alleys of the docks with the sailors and their deviant sexual practices… and ohh how his body yearned for it.Prince Wyn, is quite literally the man of Eryn’s dreams, his destined betrothed. But In order for his destiny to be realised he must make a quest to save his beloved, but that road is fraught with danger and our saviour is lost, weary and suspicious of the unknown path he takes. Doubting himself and lacking in confidence to be the warrior needed to save his true love… deeming himself unworthy of the task and the man his heart longs for.As with all fairy stories, it’s a path to true love and a HEA, so this isn’t about the twists and turns, because to be honest, it’s not complicated, it’s more about the trials and tribulations in Eryn’s quest to finding himself before he can be the man to save the prince. After being captured by bandits, Eryn is recued by the pasha, a powerful magician, an illusionist determined for Eryn to know his true worth, to love himself and break the mental shackles of guilt, shame, worthlessness and surrender to his demons to be truly free. His trials are meant to humiliate in order for him to learn to trust in others, to endure pain, to make him strong, to sacrifice and learn to be totally selfless… all to give him the strength and the true understanding of his nature to enable him to fulfil his destiny. What a fabulous read this is, and testament to how amazingly talented and versatile Heidi Cullinan is as a writer. She manages to weave her own brand of magic, and creates an illusion worthy of the pasha himself. It’s a beautiful, heart-warming fairy tale, very much of the adult nature, complete with ‘Cullinan Kink’ at it’s very best. Only Heidi can take a fairy tale and make it both sweet and endearing whilst at the same time deliciously dark and kinky. The Devil will Do deals with some very hard limit, sexual practices, yet Heidi still manages to keep the enchantment and innocence of the tale, with a simplicity to the writing which is totally engaging.

[Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.]Eryn knows he is not worthy of love. He lives a life of "perversion" and people like him can't ever be happy. It isn't just that he desires other men, it's how he desires them: rough, domineering, and even a bit degrading. But when he meets Prince Wyn--who is in a far off land and might be in danger--in a dream, he sets out on an adventure that he hopes might end in the love he desires, even if he still doesn't believe he deserves it. What follows is a journey of personal challenges and self-discovery that might just help him see that "[e]veryone has worth."The idea of reading a BDSM fantasy tale is one that honestly sort of surprised me--it's not something I think I would normally pick up. But I'm honestly glad I read this one. The fantastic setting is wonderfully constructed with all the trappings of a fairy tale (though definitely racier than anything you read in your youth). There's royalty, magic, a witch, a demon, and a curse which must be broken. And some real heat to go with it.I will say the content here is not for everyone. This definitely pushes some people would see as boundaries. There are dubious consent (and perhaps less-than-dubious consent) elements, bondage scenes, and 'public' humiliation.

Heidi Cullinan’s story begins with a ‘Once Upon a Time’ and ends with a ‘Happily Ever After’, but it is far removed from the bedtime stories adults read to their children!Eryn believes himself to be a ‘deviant’; and attitude forced on him by the society in which he lives. He has tried to fulfill the role expected of him and proposes to a pretty young woman, but he cannot deny his sexual attraction towards men. We feel Eryn’s sense of excitement when he visits the docks, but empathize with the confusion he is left with. Eryn’s feelings of ‘deviancy’ only increase when he admits that he becomes more aroused by being sexually dominated.Heidi Cullinan links Eryn’s false existence with Wyn’s fantastical one, when the cloud-prince visits Eryn in his dreams, with promises of love and marriage. Eryn’s sense of hope is apparent as he sets off on his journey to rescue his soul-mate.Eryn’s sexual and spiritual journey is explicitly documented in The Devil Will Do and throughout his experiences we never share the disgust he has for himself. We desperately want him to reach the point of self-acceptance, which will enable him to face the witch and the demon so he can rescue Wyn.The Devil Will Do has only a small number of primary characters and Heidi Cullinan creates them with a vivid precision, entirely absorbing her reader into this fantasy world of magic and illusion.Heidi Cullinan is not shy in her description of sex or any of the techniques used by the pasha, but each act has a place in the story, rather than being used for shock-value.The Devil will Do is the second book I have read by the author and I am already a big fan of hers. I know this will be a hit with fans of the gay erotica genre. This review originally appeared on GGR-Review http://www.ggr-review.com/review-the-devil-will-do/I received this as a complimentary copy, in exchange for an honest review.
