Michelle Rosenblum has a flair for encapsulating often heart-breaking situations and incidents in a cleverly worded and snappy manner that compels the reader to move forward in her life narrative. Told from the perspective of a "typical" mother with a son on the autism spectrum, and a daughter who is not, the book offers helpful hints through real life instances, and posits solutions and tactics of how to manage many of the pitfalls common to those who live with an ASD child may go through. The "A" Word is an easy, concise, read that will have you seeing the positive, and often joyously humorous side, of raising a child with sensory and linguistic issues, rather than just focusing on the pathos and struggles involved in the process. All in all a very enlightening book, offering a birds-eye window into the internal dynamics of an "autism" household, and a caring mother's mind.

This is an incredible resource for parents, siblings, teachers, caregivers, and friends of those with autism! It provides so much helpful advice and will undoubtedly make a difference in many lives. Most importantly, this book reminds those of us dealing with autism directly that we are not alone.
