After reading this book, I realized that what this man proclaimed could not be possible because there is NO mention of a "second blessing" that would leave a Christian "sinless" for the remainder of his or her life. There is a denomination that believes this false teaching but the fruit of their lives is not consistent with what they teach. I will not mention the church name for the sake of remaining nonjudgmental. I also saw it as a great shame that Col. Samuel L. Brengle manipulated an older SA woman into marriage who "did not really want to marry" and then spent 90% of their married life far away preaching causing her to raise one or two children alone. At first, I found the book interesting until I found it not to be Scriptural. My recommendation is don't waste your time. I also found many Bible passages being used to try to justify "his" second blessing experience....whatever that was. I do not believe it was the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Also many verses state that we continue to sin and need to go to God through Jesus Christ for forgiveness daily, not just once.

This book is one of the most challenging books. It is very scriptural and if a person will take the Bible seriously Portrait of a Prophet will be an inspiration to go "all out" for God. Too many people want to live low lives. Samuel Logan Brengle put God first, died out to sin and set a straight course to do something for Jesus.
