Review Text

Imagine sauntering down the Appian Way toward old Naples in the sunny South, with the famous poet Vergil reciting verses from his newly composed poem, the Aeneid, as his friend Horace also listens and admires the great poets metrical versification. Quintilian, the rhetorician accompanies the poet and to your delight tactfully yet almost sonorously elucidates and explains every point of grammar, so that the timeless grandeur of Vergils poem can, to your ear and mind, now be plainly understood! Thus is the import of this rich and varied book brought to us, those of his admirers who would gladly set out in his company, to trace the ways of heroes and their adventures illuminated by copius commentary and explanation, therefore serving both as a complete grammatical guide and as an introduction to one of the worlds great works of Art!

This book is OK; it is a bit difficult to see the quantity of each syllable, which was needed for scanning text. Would not have purchased this book if the Vergil text I am using had the quantity marked.
