Ellen's book contains some of the most clever, creative, cunning stories I've read. Her selections read out loud delighted an audience in a popular California wine bar, receiving more thunderous applause than two published poets who also read that night. Though the stories contain chilling twists, what I love most about them is they way many of them make me laugh. That's wonderful combined with the fact that she does it with such style and so quickly that a single story can be read in one or two minutes. Bravo, Mrs. Hecht!

These delightful “micro-stories” are like candies with a tasty liquid center. Just as you finish, the hidden flavor surprises and delights you. Ellen Hecht writes with originality, skill and a unique wry humor. You would be fortunate to own this collection.

As a teacher, I can always use a real, fast and funny pick-me-up after a hard day handling up to 30 kids. I have not finished the entire book, but I have read excerpts randomly, which is quite the way I believe the book was intended for....the reader can scan the subjects of each short, take a few minutes to read the 55 word quip, and consider the meaning, then the meaning of another layer, and another, and so on. It's clever, quick writing that give you just enough info to allow you to figure out the puzzle, wanting more . . . as any good author knows is absolutely imperative if they are to publish again! Love this book and want to read more!
